Opening of Wollongong Golf Club’s new club-house

Wollongong Golf Club opening 1928

Mr. F. S. Boyce, M.L.C., Attorney-General, performed the opening ceremony in the presence of a large gathering of golfers and their friends. The picture shows the club-house and the scene as Mr. Boyce drove a ball to mark the opening of the new nine holes. Wollongong now possesses a full 18-holes course. Among those present at the opening ceremony were three of the original founders of the club — which dates from 1897 — Messrs. Robert Finlayson, Arthur Mead, and D. J. Stewart.
